Finding the right medic

Since being diagnosed witth primary Sjogrens in February this year, am still struggling with mouth infection. Ulcers which are very painful and which open and bleed. My G.P. has prescribed all the usual anti fungal meds which so far have not helped. We have now found a Dermatologist/Immuunologist specialist in Sjogrens. Whooppee!. Have made an appointment and will let you know the outcome. Does anyone else have experience with a dermatologist? Particularly one specialising in Sjogrens?

I have been precribed colchicine for my mouth ulcers when they are severe by my dermatologist. I have not taken this yet. Awaiting for the next major attack and then will take to see how well it works. It is actually a gout medication, and also used in arthritis but also prescribed when one has aphthous ulcers. When mine start they last for many months and also give me nerve pain. Same as you they bleed. My bad ones occur at the back of my tongue as this is the area that is the dryest for me.

Hi Gina,

Sorry to hear about your mouth issues. So far mine are not unbearable. I have more organ things going on. You said you found a specialist in Sjogrens. May I ask what location of the country that doctor is in? I am in Central Pa and need a good doctor that is smart and has compassion.

thanks,

Lucy

If you have found a great doctor, can you share where he/she is? I am looking for a doctor that really does know more about Sjogren's than my last doctor.

Della, would love to share his/her name, hospital etc., but I live in The Netherlands, The Hague to be precise, don't know where you live but think its in the USA, but what I did find is that there are doctors specializing in Sjogrens who are dermatologists (as many of us do have skin problems). If, on the other hand you do live over here, let me know and I will gladly pass on the address.

Wow! A while back I thought to myself that I would got to the ends of the earth to find a good rheumatologist. Now I will re-think that. Thank you. I do hope you get some relief.
